The first club tournament of the new year will take place on Saturday, February 11, 2012. The tournament will have a co-ed fours format.
We’ll provide you with more information about the event later in the month.
We hope you’ll be able to join us!
We will be holding a General Meeting of our membership on Saturday, February 4, 2012. The meeting will take place at De Anza Cove and begin at 1 PM. We’ll be getting together to discuss the club’s level of play, annual membership, and evaluation. Your presence, feedback, and suggestions are crucial to what we hope will be a productive meeting. Please bring a dish, beverage, or treats to share. Play on our club nets will follow.
MBVA Treasurer Afsaneh Fariborzi is now collecting dues for 2012. Please pay your dues for the year in the near future. If you don’t see Afsaneh at De Anza Cove, any one of the club’s Board of Directors will be happy to take your dues.
The club held a unique, “challenge court” fours tournament on Saturday, October 1, 2011. We would like to acknowledge and congratulate our tournament winners Afsaneh Fariborzi, Dulce Batista, Greg Heflin, and Joel Marcinowski. Our runner-up team consisted of Carmen Espinosa, Mike Walker, Angel Cruz, and Rudy Gil.
We would also like to thank the following people for their assistance in putting on the tournament: Dulce, Afsaneh, Jacque Mitchell, Jolinda Kramer, Joel, Mike McSorley, Derek Someda, Peter Berens, Jim Matheson, and Paul Dyga. (If we missed anyone, you have our thanks and apologies.)
The starting time for club play on Saturdays and Sundays is 2 PM.
We have a limited number of shirts available for purchase. If you’d like more information on buying one, please see Afsaneh.
Despite
our best efforts to get the club's equipment to DeAnza Cove on time, every
time, we're scheduled to play, things don't always work out according to plan.
For that reason, and to help keep better track of who actually has our equipment, Derek Someda has agreed to keep at least one equipment bag at his house. (Derek lives less than a ten-minute drive from DeAnza Cove.)
All you'll have to do
is swing by Derek's to pick up a bag and you'll be on your way! The
equipment bags will be available for pick-up every day that the club is
scheduled to play.
We do need a few more
reliable volunteers to help the club by taking the equipment bags at the end of
play and bringing them for play the next
scheduled day that the
club meets. We don't want to have to rely on Board members or the same,
small number of people all of the time. If you
can help, please step up
and let Derek or a Board member know. We, and your fellow club members,
would appreciate it.
